1. Egyptian Rat Screw
- This is the card game for the modern cowboy (guns not included). Bring your hand to the table and slap the deck whenever there's a double or a sandwich. Lost? Here's the full set of rules with a number of variations.
- Here's the briefest description possible: deal out all the cards face down, pick up your pile, the player to the left of the dealer starts by placing the first card of their pile face up. If it's anything but a face card: the next player goes. If it's a face card, the next player must place their cards down until they reach a face card. If they don't, the original face card placer collects the cards. If an Ace is shown, the next player has 4 chances, a King- 3 chances, Queen- 2 chances, Jack- 1 chance. So if you drop a face card, you want it to be a Jack so that the next person has the least chance of challenging it with another face card.
- The twist is the slapping that occurs throughout the entire game. For example, a sandwich would be when a 10 is placed, then a 5, and another 10. The first person to slap the pile collects all the cards, thus strengthening their position. If someone falsely slaps, they are penalized one card which is placed on the bottom of the pile.
- A great part of the game is that you can slap your way back into the game if you run out of cards.
- If any game needs an age limit, I'd say it's this one because it is not for the weak hearted. Speedy hands and a sharp eye make this a game for the young but experienced.
- For all the games I've ever played, this one definitely brings the decibel levels in the room to the max. Be prepared for plenty of arguments.
Grab some players and a deck of cards you'll be on your way to being mistakenly reported for a domestic disturbance. A great game and an appearance on Cops? It's going to be a good year after all.
