Innovative is the word that comes to mind when thinking of how to describe The Eye of Judgment video game. Developed exclusively for the PlayStation 3 (PS3) by Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios (SCEA) and teaming with Hasbro’s Wizards of the Coast (producers of Magic: the Gathering) The Eye of Judgment offers a revolutionary way of playing traditional trading card games and new ways to use the PlayStation Eye for the PS3.

How it Works

There are four ways for players to play, single player vs. their PS3, player vs. player offline, player vs. player online or allow their PS3 to play out a round with their cards. Every player begins with a starter deck of 30 cards and a booster pack containing 8 unique cards. More cards can be purchased to help strategically build the “ultimate” deck from the 110 cards available. Once you feel you have the deck to beat all others you begin competing by placing a card in front of the PlayStation Eye and on the “9 Fields” battle mat (included in the bundle, see below) and then watch as their cards come to life on the TV screen. Players take turns placing cards until they are the first to conquer five of the nine squares of the “9 Fields” battle mat. Much like any strategy game the name of the game is to outwit the opponent using a variety of characters and spells.

Graphics

The Eye of Judgment is not a game meant to wow players with super realistic graphics such as Assassin’s Creed (review coming) but it does deliver solid graphics. It does support HD video output: 720p.

Entertainment

The Eye of Judgment is very entertaining especially with a group of friends. There’s nothing like totally conquering one of your buddies and having others witness your greatness as you talk smack.

Replay

With so many unique combinations available through the 110 cards plus the online mode the possibilities are endless. Players may have a hard time finding reasons to not want to show their supremacy.
